Lessons:

If you have always wanted to play the harp, you’re in the right place!

Harp lessons are available to students of all abilities, goals and ambitions. Lessons are one hour weekly.  Beginning lessons focus on basic techniques, and Celtic repertoire for lever harp.  Studios are in Alexandria, VA and Leonardtown, MD.  Not close by but still interested?  I also offer internet lessons.

Building on my training in teaching Gifted and Talented students and my education and experience as a human factors specialist your lessons are built for you.  This will enhance your private lessons and assure that you learn the best way for you –  regardless of your goals.

Workshops and Lectures:

Get innovative workshops or lectures for your group or studio.  Lectures incorporate human factors and ergonomics and a love of music performance. Amateur and professional musicians learn how their minds and bodies work so they can improve their performance, learn music more thoroughly and more quickly, and remain injury free throughout their careers.

I teach workshops in a variety of topics ranging from learning tunes by ear to creating new arrangements of old tunes as well as teaching you more about how you (and your audience) process information so you can perform your best each time you play. Whether you play for yourself or for an crowd, you’ll have music to delight the audience and tell a story.

If you have a specific topic in mind, or if you’d like to learn more, contact me and let me know what you’d like to learn!

Travel with Harps:

If you are interested in Irish and Scottish traditional music and are intrigued with the idea of playing those lovely tunes in situ, you’re in the right place.  Join us for the Celtic Journeys for the Harp trip to Ireland and Scotland – learn more below.

  1. This past week yet again I discovered all by myself something that made my practicing so much easier and more effective (this week it was the importance of placing one’s fingers and squeezing the strings before playing a chord one finds difficult). So what if this was something Jen has been trying to get me to do regularly for more than a year…..Guess what — listening to Jen is REALLY IMPORTANT! Maybe I have finally learned that lesson…THANK YOU Jen for being such a patient teacher!

  2. Thank you so much for all the humor and warmth you added to the harp competition yesterday. Your wonderful antics really helped relieve what could have been a much more dreary day.
You attitude also helped put the students at ease , and your comments were very helpful. Thanks again for being so cheerful on a cold Mn. day.
